Interview Technology (Pete Sergent)

One of the people i interviewed was a local IT technician that works in a IT telecoms company in Stockport.

However he lives in Oldham and i arranged to meet him near his home in Oldham.

The interview began with a bit of friendly chit chat just so the interviewee would be relaxed and it would make the interview less tense for us both it would loosen us both up and make for a good informative interview.

Now that the interviewee was relaxed it was time to start the interview previously haven written a script for the intro of the interview i proceeded to begin with that and introduced my guest by his full name and occupation.

The interview was fairly middle paced i gave Peter time to answer the questions and gave him signals when i thought he started to get off topic or if he was taking to long to explain a certain subject.

Also before we started i explained the questions to him before we started so it would give him time to think about his answer i sent them to him by e-mail a few days before the meet up so he would have better time to prepare.

Peter him self in the interview was relaxed and was confident with his answer and would go into much greater detail if i asked him to if i asked for a more in depth answer he would give me a more in depth answer on a specific subject.

There were some points in the interview where pete got a little of topic and started to go about other subjects that had nothing to do with the questions for this i stopped him imminently and asked if we could get back onto topic.

I myself thought i could of delivered the questions a bit more better making them more clearer and easier to understand so that the interviewee wouldn't get confused.

I also feel that i could of relaxed Peter a bit more and should of made more of a chance to get to know him so he wouldn't feel as it was an interview more a brief chat on a certain topic of interest.

At the end of the interview i thanked Peter for taking time to talk to me about technology and hope that he enjoys working in his IT job and said we will see what the future holds for technology.
