Sound Beds For Technology Podcast

The sound-beds i have been using in my technology podcast all have a similar theme to link with the specific subject and genre that i have chosen.

The sound-beds all link to technology in the sense that the sound effects are robotic and science fiction types of sound.

These sounds linking with the future and how technology always advances forward is the specific reason i chose these types of sounds to link to the genre of the podcast.

The intro is a original track that i made on a program called fruity loops a music editing and making software for electronically based music. The tracks tempo is fairly mid and dose not  have that much of an impact like "dubstep" or "hard style" rather that it is a basic string of chords computerised in a sequence.

Linked below are a range of sound beds i will be using as well as the basic intro and outro music.

Podcast Editing

In the following blog i will talking about the editing of the podcast i am currently working on and will be explaining the processes of how the podcast was create from scratch. Using the sound bytes and mp3 files that i have saved and created. using programs such as garage band and fruity loops while adding the interview files that i recorded with my H2Recorder device.

As the image shows below i have started with a basic audio track from a royalty free music channel on youtube under the create commons law meaning i can use this track as long as i link the name of the channel and music track which i will do in this blog.

Along with this track i have added other sound bytes that i found and tweaked using fruity loops and garage band to change either the tempo or to add a echo effect to make the sounds extend and last longer to create a better effect for the intro.

The image below shows the fade in effect that i implemented to start the podcast off smooth with the idea of the volume starting low and gradually got higher to the point where it didn't get to loud so it wouldn't cause the audience to turn the podcast down i kept it an even pitch for the audience.

Once the basic mp3 intro music was at a decent standard with the fade in affect and the fade out affect i decided to add sound beds of phasers or laser guns at the start just before the intro music just to fill the gap and also so it isn't just all music at the start i will also be adding robot voices introducing the podcast  with the name of the podcast "The BlackOut Podcast".

The image below shows the sound bed of the phasers being added to the start of the track.

After the custom sound beds and the intro music were polished and finished it was now time to start to cut down the podcast below shows a screen shot of how i have began to cut down the parts of the podcast conversation that were irrelevant or went on to long.

The first part of the podcast was edited we now move onto the second part which has a short 30 second sound byte clip indicating the next part when we actually about the possibility of a black out podcast.
Below is a screen shot of the first part  of the main questions podcast.

Now moving on to the second part i started off the second part of the podcast by using a free action trailer intro mp3 file with sound bytes of rioting and crime waves as this part talks about the panic of a global blackout asking a few basic questions about this situation so the music links to this.

I then proceeded to edit and cut the podcast down to erase parts that were off topic or that took large or small gaps in between sentences so it was to th
e point and kept a certain pace so that it didn't start to linger on. Below is a screen shot of all the podcast cut down all that is left is to add the outro music and the blackout outro voice as well. which i recorded myself saying the outro and intro but used a free software to change my voice so it was robotic and deep enough to sound machine like.

Once all the sound beds were finished being added and my voice was deepened there was only the podcast left to cut which was the simplest task below this text is a screen shot of the final edited podcast and its finished product.
